Small Business Spotlight - Pour N Spirit Arts
Pour N Spirit Arts
Today’s Small Business Spotlight is on one of the two artists that make up Pour N Spirit Arts. Judy Secor is a local artist living in Spring, Texas. I recently had the pleasure of sitting down and speaking with Judy about her art, her business and her vision moving forward.
Judy tells me she and her daughter, DeeDee Kelley started the business two years ago but, she said, “I have been painting all my life, starting with Crayolas and graduating to the next thing.”
Of all the mediums she has tried, “I love to do oils but, my favorite right now are probably acrylics.”
She is also well versed in sketching and paint pours and she says her style “is what ever pleases me.”
Pour N Spirit Arts offers original artwork on canvas, as well as prints and for those who want to learn how to create your own original art, Judy and DeeDee offer in person classes.
Judy says that after losing her husband paint pouring helped her “make sense of life” and she wants to offer that gift to others. She describes paint pours as an accessible form of art that anyone can learn and benefit from. “It is very simple, first of all you start out with a bunch of colors” and “you pour them on a canvas and twist it and turn it.”
“It’s an easy medium to work with and something that a lot of people are interested in.”
“My daughter and I have taught several classes to people who have never done it before. I show them how to pour it and what to do and they always say ‘I can do that, wow! Thank you, that’s what I needed to know’ and so I hope I have started a few more people exploring their own talent and maybe do something with it.”
